ECTAS 2026 Program

Program

ECTAS 2026 Conference

The 21st Annual Meeting of the Egyptian Cardiothoracic Anesthesia Society (ECTAS 2026) will take place February 5-7, 2026, at Misr University for Science & Technology in Cairo, Egypt.

The comprehensive three-day scientific program encompasses twelve specialized sessions covering the full spectrum of cardiothoracic anesthesia practice. The program features contributions from international experts from the USA, UK, Germany, Hungary, Belgium, Italy, South Africa, and Kenya, alongside Egyptian specialists, with several sessions offered virtually to maximize global participation.

Complementing the lecture sessions, ECTAS 2026 offers eight hands-on workshops designed to enhance practical skills in critical areas including simulated challenges during minimally invasive cardiac surgery and one-lung ventilation, research design in cardiothoracic anesthesia, non-invasive ventilation, artificial intelligence applications in healthcare, regional anesthesia techniques, and intraoperative pacing. A comprehensive full-day ECMO workshop provides intensive training in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation management.

Learning Objectives

As a participant of ECTAS 2026 you will:

  • Master advanced monitoring techniques including NIRS brain monitoring, neuromonitoring in congenital heart disease, and hemodynamic monitoring strategies in complex cardiovascular procedures
  • Develop comprehensive ECMO competency through the dedicated session and full-day workshop, including left ventricular venting strategies (why, how, and when), ethical considerations in ECPR, ECMO applications in pulmonary embolism and thoracic surgery, novel mechanical circulatory support technologies, and anticoagulation monitoring in ECMO/ECLS
  • Enhance clinical decision-making skills for high-risk scenarios including pediatric catheterization lab challenges, transplant surgery perioperative management, malperfusion syndrome, and vasoplegic syndrome
  • Acquire practical skills through hands-on workshops in regional anesthesia techniques, simulation training, non-invasive ventilation, algorithm-based coagulation management, and comprehensive ECMO management with international expert instructors
  • Integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning applications into cardiothoracic anesthesia practice for improved patient monitoring and outcomes
  • Implement evidence-based enhanced recovery protocols and opioid-sparing strategies in cardiac surgery, including adaptations for low-resource settings
  • Apply advanced interventional cardiology knowledge including structural heart interventions (TAVI, TEER), high-stakes crisis management, and anesthetic considerations for emerging cardiac procedures.
